Maybe you're new at this whole "Quiet/SOAP Time" thing. Well, I'm not here to tell you what to do, but I'm here to help you. Do you know what soap does? It washes away all the dirt, germs, etc. on your skin, which is your first line of defense against a disease, illness or sickness. Quiet time is suppose to be like that too... that's why I sometimes call quiet time SOAP time.
Tonight I want to focus on what SOAP stands for... and later I will talk about what the Word of God says about our quiet time with God... even look at some of the thing's Jesus did during His alone time with the Father.
So, first thing is first------>>>> SOAP stands for:
S scripture
O observation
A application
P prayer
- Scripture. Write down the scripture(s) you're reading.
- Observation. What do you observe/notice? What sticks out to you?
- Application. How does it apply to you? How can you use it later on today or tomorrow? What can you learn from this scripture(s)? What's something really important to remember because of this scripture?
- Prayer. Pray to be reminded of these things later on.
Now this doesn't mean you have to do it in this same order. It doesn't even mean you have to write all this down. It sometimes helps though, so you can have a record of it. But it isn't necessary!
I always like to think about our SOAP time being a time of seeking God, encountering Him and washing the world off. Don't let anything stop you from just sitting before the throne of God for just a little while each day. Jesus is waiting for you! :)
Continue the walk and keep seeking God, He's there for you! Jesus can truly be your best friend and your greatest lover. Promise.
God bless,
♥Brittany Michelle♥
